We’re hitting the Runway

Sep 5, 2009

It was only a matter of time before the classy canine fashions at Chateau Bow Wow got the not from our local fashionistas.  Next Saturday, September 12th, we will be strutting our stuff at Applause for Paws 2, a back-to-school fashion show at the super-trendy American Hairlines salon in downtown Bethlehem.

Human fashions will be provided by Pop Mart boutique and doggies will be dressed by us.  Best of all, many of the doggie models will be rescue dogs, and all proceeds will benefit the Center for Animal Health and Welfare in Northampton County.  Be there at 6 p.m. sharp.  Photos to follow!

“The Hooligan Sisters” Meet Cali and Zoey, our August DogStars

Aug 9, 2009

Zoey and CallieCaliRose and Zoey Isabelle are English Springer Spaniel sisters who are rapidly approaching their first birthdays.  They are also the newest additions to the Chateau Bow Wow menagerie, joining our store owner, Jan, her husband, Kevin, son, Matt, and brother Remy (our Cavalier King Charles store mascot).  Remy is still a bit dubious about the girls, but they adore him.

Since we have unlimited access to Cali and Zoey (if we can catch them), we interviewed them at some length using our standard DogStar profile questionnaire.  As I write this, the young misses are 11 months old and weighing in at 45 and 40 pounds respectively–BIG GIRLS!

Nicknames:  Cali–Frankenmutt; Zoey–ZoZobel

Favorite Sport:  Swimming in our pond.

Favorite Snack:  U Lucky Dog, free-range organic beef treats.

Favorite Toy:  Anything Remy wants to play with!

Biggest Accomplishment:  Graduation from puppy school.

Guilty Pleasure:  Breaking out of the house and racing through the vineyard under the trellis wires; chasing rabbits; jumping in the pond AGAIN after promising not to.

Wet, muddy and unrepentant

Wet, muddy and unrepentant

Biggest fear:  Cali–none!  Zoey–her shadow (no kidding) and the moon.

Favorite Spa Product:  Cali–Harry Barker Prickly Pear and Cactus Shampoo; Zoey–Canine Earth’s Mostly Mango Organic Coat Cleanser.

Favorite Sleeping Spot:  On top of each other on Mom & Dad’s king-size bed.

When in downtown Bethlehem, Cali and Zoey can frequently be seen pulling Mom down Main Street.

Woo-hoo! Chateau Bow Wow is one of Lehigh Valley Style’s Favorite Things!

Jun 26, 2009

Hot off the press!  The July issue of Lehigh Valley Style Magazine has named Le Chateau Bow Wow as one of their favorite places to shop.  There’s a gorgeous picture of our gorgeous store and a write-up that includes the following:  “one of our favorite posh–or shall we say pooch–shopping spots. . . . Chateau Bow Wow caries exceptional merchandise that you can’t find anywhere else including natural products for an earth-friendly Fido.”

Thank you, Lehigh Valley Style!  We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Our June DogStar–Blaine the Magical Malamute

Jun 16, 2009

Blaine the Magical Malamute, our June DogStarWe are honored to bring you Blaine, an Alaskan Malamute of staggering good looks and a personality to match.  Blaine Blaine is named after David Blaine, the well-known magician. The kennel owner from where he came from, out in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a magician, so he named all his malamutes after magicians.

And Blaine may well have inherited some magical powers of his own.  He comes from a long ancestry of Iditarod sled dogs. Several of his relatives have run in the Iditarod, or helped train team dogs. One ancestor was Canadian National Champion, another was the first malamute ever to win Best In Show. One of his great-grandparents was National Weight Pulling Champion, pulling 3,000 pounds in a competition.

Walt and Janet, Blaine’s proud people-parents, say their 120-pound baby’s favorite things to do are running in the snow (no surprise there), watching dogs on TV, poking his two cat buddies and jumping on their bed at 6 a.m. sharp.  He’s also pretty cagey about meals:  whenever people sit down to eat at his house, Blaine gets his stuffed toy duck and brings it to the table in an attempt to barter it for food.

Blaine does have his serious side, though.  He entertains patients at a local Alzheimer’s unit and goes to elementary schools to teach kids about the Iditarod.  He even sheds his fur for a good cause:  A Unuit village in Alaska weaves his fur into hats and gloves.

And perhaps our favorite Blaine story concerns ice cream.  He loves the stuff, and whenever he’s in the car within a half mile of the Promenade, he will start howling, and upon stopping, will go straight to the shop and stand looking in the door.  We can relate!Blaine kicks back
