In Memoriam: Maggie Rose; 1993–2007; English Springer Spaniel
Beloved family dog of Jan, Kevin and Matt. Maggie was the sweetest, most gentle, beautiful creature. She had all of us in the palm of her little paw! She could look into your eyes and you would know exactly what she was thinking. I never had that experience before. I learned more about love from her than from anyone else in my life.
Her favorite thing was to lie on the tops of bed pillows or sofa cushions. When she was a puppy she would disappear down into them. I can still see that, and it still makes me smile.
She had a tough time trying to leave us. It took her months, but one day she looked at me and I knew she was saying, “I need to go, but I can’t. Please help me.” I knew then that it was time, and it was.
Helping her leave was the hardest thing ever. We miss her every day. But she will always be in our hearts and I feel blessed that she came into our lives and stayed for so long. Her love changed me forever and made me a much more loving and accepting person. It’s amazing what you can learn from a dog!
